Fernando Gomez

Hakomi and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in Powell River, Canada

  • "Working with Fernando has been a transformative part of my healing journey. Fernando creates a safe and supportive container for deep, internal exploration. Fernando utilizes both Hakomi and Somatic Experiencing in his sessions. This amazing combination of wisdom was exactly what I needed to help me connect and communicate with my body, my tender heart, and overwhelming emotions. As a result of my work with Fernando, I feel more resilient, capable, and grounded, along with having a more expansive and possibility-filled outlook for today and beyond."

  • "I recently sat with Fernando for several sessions of Hakomi. It quickly became apparent I was sitting with kind and gentle heavy hitter. I was struck by how deeply safe I felt being vulnerable with Fernando. He helped me identify and let go of beliefs about myself that have been causing suffering for years. The sessions have left me feeling profoundly lighter and more hopeful. I look forward to many more and absolutely recommend trying Hakomi with Fernando!"

Keith Walton (Retired RCMP cst.) Campbell River, BC

  • "I feel so fortunate to have worked with Fernando. His Hakomi approach, gentle, deeply mindful, and rooted in loving presence, created a space where I could finally meet myself with compassion instead of force. By slowing down and listening to my body’s wisdom together, he helped me uncover and transform old patterns in a way that felt organic and profoundly healing. I’ve gained more self-awareness and inner freedom that have allowed me to experience life with a renewed sense of curiosity. Thank you Fernando!!"

My story

Hakomi found me in 2013 when my first Hakomi experience enabled healing I didn’t know was possible. I was moved beyond words, and after years working in mental health, I wanted to use this approach with others. I became a certified practitioner by 2017 and a certified teacher by 2025.

But how does a Spaniard become a Hakomi practitioner in Powell River, BC?

As a child, I was raised in urban Madrid, gazing out my window at a mural of mountains and forest, counting the days until summertime in nature with my grandparents. By 16 years old I felt the call to pursue a career in psychology (the wildness within), and by my 30s was travelling the world in search of deep nature (the wildness beyond). My travels took me from Europe to South America to the Yukon, where I lived for one year before finding my home in Powell River, BC. And that’s when Hakomi embraced my life.

Hakomi has guided me through the pain of heartache, the avoidance of romanticized isolation, and the lost opportunities of perfectionism. In the same way my soul rests when I am by the ocean or up high in the mountains, I am in awe of the wildness that connects our unconscious and conscious landscapes.

Our story

Who am I to you?

I am the character who shows up in your story as you stand at the edge of your known world, hesitant to take the next step, and I say: "I know how to navigate this path. I'll walk with you. All of you is welcome here. There is light hidden behind fear.”

As we venture forth together, I bring a nervous system that can stay regulated if yours dysregulate, eyes that see your wholeness when you feel brokenness, hands that hold what feels too heavy, presence that doesn’t need you to be different, and knowledge of this underworld you’re facing on your own. I have walked through my own dark night of the soul, many times over, and now I can help you through yours.

What I believe

  • You are good enough.

I believe everyone is whole exactly as they are. Grief, shame and trauma are sacred territory to be honored, not signs of brokenness or weakness. By safely venturing into these dark spaces, we can find the path to healing.

  • Healing comes from within.

I cannot heal you. I bring the skills to create the conditions in which your innate healing wisdom can emerge. My practice is one of co-creation rather than expert intervention. The light is always hiding within my clients, waiting for a safe enough space to be revealed.

  • Individual healing enables collective healing.

When someone learns to hold their own shame with tenderness, they contribute to a world that can hold difference with more compassion. When someone stops hiding their tears, they give others permission to share their own suffering.

  • We are guided by both mystery and meaning.

I believe that life holds both profound mystery and deep meaning, and that healing often happens at their intersection. My dual reverence for mystery and meaning allows my practice to hold space for experiences that purely scientific or purely spiritual approaches might dismiss.
